34 Year Journey

Hi, everyone. My name is John Fischer, and welcome to SalesLeads.TV. In this video, I want to share my journey in the leads business and give you some background on who I am, how I got here, and the lessons I've learned along the way.

Early Beginnings

Before I got into the leads business, I started out in ventures like oil and gas leases and boiler rooms. I’ll admit, those were less-than-perfect paths. After that, I moved into precious metals. Unfortunately, those endeavors often had problematic endings.

Eventually, I decided to clean up my act. I became a commodity broker, but even that had its challenges. I’ve battled my share of personal struggles, including addiction, but I’ve been clean and sober for over 40 years now. If you look behind me, you’ll see an AA poster with the 12 steps. Sobriety has given me integrity, a moral compass, and a better life. I’m far from perfect, but I’ve come a long way.

Transition to Leads

After working with a securities attorney on communication deals, I realized that wasn’t the right path either. I decided I was done raising money for others. But what next? That’s when my history with leads began.

There was an old man named Al Hartstein. Back in the day, he would sell lead sheets in the parking lot where we worked. If you didn’t have a Porsche, you couldn’t even park there—that’s how crazy things were. Al would charge $1,000 for a batch of leads, and in a few weeks, we’d raise tens of thousands of dollars from those leads. That planted a seed in my mind.

When my other ventures failed, a joke played on me by colleagues turned out to be a blessing. I ended up with a batch of 3x5 lead cards, filled with names, addresses, and phone numbers. I took them home, and as the calls started coming in, I realized the potential. I started duplicating those leads, selling them, and soon, I had a thriving business.

Building SalesLeads.TV

On October 2, 1990, I officially started in the leads business. Over the years, I’ve refined and evolved the company. My focus shifted to selling high-quality leads for numismatic coins and precious metals. Why? Because they are tangible assets. Even if a buyer pays a markup, they still hold something of value, like gold or silver.

We also specialize in accredited investor leads. These are individuals with $200,000+ in annual income, a net worth of over $1 million (excluding their home), and experience managing personal portfolios. It’s about ensuring that the leads I sell go to businesses with the potential to deliver value, not scams.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

The biggest challenge in this business is the salespeople. The quality of sales talent has declined significantly over the years. Success in this industry relies on their ability to convert leads into deals. I’ve also had to navigate the ethics of selling leads, ensuring I work with reputable clients.

Despite these challenges, I’ve managed to build a reputable business by cutting out risks and focusing on tangible assets and legitimate opportunities.

A Personal Note

I’m a proud American, a patriot, and a supporter of traditional values. I served six years as a combat engineer during the Vietnam era. My life experiences, including fleeing Cuba during the revolution, have shaped who I am today.

I understand that not everyone shares my views, but I am unapologetically who I am. If you do business with me, you’ll find someone who is honest, direct, and passionate about doing things the right way.
